Chapter 22
"And when Daddy gets home, we're gonna go get Nannie and Poppie from the airport." Jen told Cayleigh while changing her diaper. She scooped her up making sure she had a good hold on her head, and layed her in her arms. "Speaking of Daddy, where is that crazy man?" She checked her watch. Sighing, Jen got a diaperbag ready.
"Mommy. Why can't Daddy just pick 'em up? I'm tired!"
"Jay we already discussed that we were going. These are my parents, honey. Besides, you can sleep in the car." Jen turned her back to start up the swing, then placed the nippey (pacifire) in her daughter's mouth. "Here. Lay down and watch some cartoons while I get some bottles ready. Can you keep an eye on your sister for me?"
"I guess so." He yawned. Jen came over to where he was laying and kissed his forehead.
"Thanks Jay. You know you've been a really big help to me."
"I know."
Jen smiled at him, then got up and started pulling bottles and formula out of
the cabinets, to be put in the bag.

"He's sleeping." Jen said looking into the back seat of their Durango. Nick looked back into the rearview mirror and smiled.
"Did you bring the two seater?" He asked. Jen nodded.
A few minutes later they were parking in the airport's lot. Unlocking the doors, Nick went into the back to unfold the stroller, then placed Jayson on the left side, while Jen placed Cayleigh on the right.
They started walking towards the entrance.
"Arrivals...Islip,
Delta Airlines Flight 243.. 4:35." Jen read reading all the information
that was needed. "Okay, Gate 12." She said, then lead the way.

"Shhhh..." Jen bounced up and down rubbing her daughter's back. She wouldn't stop crying, and Jen had tried everything she could think of.. pacifire...bottle.. rocking..etc. None worked. "Cayleigh... Stop it, baby.. Shhh." She looked at Nick. Everyone was getting suspicious and looking at her... but, she couldn't help her.
"Here, give
me her." Nick said holding his arms out. Once he was in her arms, he tried
rocking her, but she still wouldn't stop. He started humming a song that he
remembered hearing when he was little. Cayleigh whimpered before quieting down
a bit, and just studied her father's face, before yawning and closing her eyes
slowly. He looked back up at and smiled at Jen, then handed the baby to her.

They stood at the gate, waiting for them to walk out of the terminal.
"Hey Lady!" Jen called out as she watched her mother search for her.
"Hey Stranger." She said coming over to her and hugging her. "Aww Jen! She's adorable!"
"Yea. She just fell asleep after crying for 10 minutes straight."
"Aww. Joe look at her!"
"Hey Daddy."
"Hey Pumpkin." He replied kissing her on her forehead. "Where's the little guy?"
"Sleeping
in the carraige." She replied pointing towards the chair where Nick was
sitting. They walked over to meet and greet him, before all of them walked and
got their bags.

"Where do you guys wanna stop for dinner?" Nick asked driving down a main street with all restaurants. "Bloomiar's, Pola y Corbaya, Laune Inn.."
"How 'bout something simple Nickolas... Like The Olive Garden or something?" Sue chuckled, everyone else in the car laughing with her.
"Well, we
were gonna take you somewhere where you haven't been.. but if you want to go
to The Olive Garden.. then that's where we'll go!" Nick answered defending
himself. Jen looked over at him and gave him a look like 'You promised me you
wouldn't cop and attitude with them' She knew that her parents weren't his "favorite"
people.. just because of what they did to her.

Kids were sleeping. Parents were in their bedroom down the hall.
"I'm sorry, Baby...It's just that..I don't know."
"It's okay Nick." Jen said coming over to get into bed. "I know they aren't your favorite people in the world.. but it's only for 4 days."
"Yea.. 4 days too long."
"Nick, Come on! I don't do this to you when your parents are here!" Jen though for a second. "Then again I love your parents... and they never deserted me." Nick smiled to himself and snuggled close to his wife. "Why are you so lovey dovey all of a sudden?"
"Because I feel like it." He answered starting to kiss Jen's neck. He moved his kisses to her mouth, and passionatly kissed her.
"Mmmm." Jen moaned into his mouth, but stopped when Cayleigh started crying. She pulled away.
"I'll get her."
"No, No. I got her. She's probably hungry again. I'll be right back." She kissed him quickly on the lips then went to get her daughter, then brought her back into the room and fed her.
Placing her back
in her room, Jen came back into her bedroom to find Nick sleeping. Sighing to
herself, she shut the light of and climbed back into bed.

"Ma, why didn't you come wake us up?" Jen asked coming down the stairs and into the kitchen, tying her robe.
"We wanted you guys to get some sleep."
"Yea, some sleep? It's 12:30. The whole day is wasted away practically. Well, not really..but.. I don't know." She sighed, sitting down in front of the sink on a stool, resting her head on her hand.
"Honey, it's okay. The baby is in her swing and Daddy brought Jayson to the store to get something." Jen grabbed for a piece of celery her mother was chopping up and nibbled on it.
"Hope not a toy... That's all that kid needs is more toys." Sue chuckled. Nick came into the room with freshly showered, and grabbed an apple out of the fridge.
"Where is everyone?"
"Store." Jen asnwered. Nick came over to her and kissed her on her forehead before going outside to the dock and checking the boat.
"I got it." Jen said getting up from the chair and checking the caller id. Picking it up she started talking, "Hey Leigh what's up?"
"Nothing. How are ya?"
"Eh, i'm alright. How are you?"
"Pretty good. How's Nick and the kids?"
"They're good. Getting big Leigh...Getting big."
"Yea I know.. tell me about it. Jordan (her and bri's 1yr old daughter) just starting to walk."
"Aww! I remember those days..taping the corners on the tables, gates on the stairs." Jen laughed.
"Exactly. Anywho, I got a sitter tonite and J called a while ago and asked if we wanted to go to a club. All the guys are going so I thought it would be nice to get outta the house and see everyone."
"Actually, my parents are he-"
"Honey, go out with your friends. I'll watch the kids."
'Are you sure?' She mouthed back to her. Sue nodded. "Okay, forget that. Mom's gonna watch them.. I just have to asked Nick. You come with me." Jen said opening up the back door and walking out to the dock.
"Where is he?"
"Out on the dock. He's probably getting the boat ready because we're gonna go up to see my grandparents tomorrow and instead of driving we thought we'd take the boat."
"Ohh.. that's a good idea."
"Yea, okay hold on."
"Okay." Jen placed her hand over the phone and called out for Nick.
"Yea?" He answered coming up from the bottom.
"Leigh's on the phone, she wants to know if you wanna go to a club with everyone."
"It's fine with me, but what about the kids?"
"My parents are gonna watch them.."
"Okay. I'll be in in a few minutes I just have to make sure we have enough gas." Jen nodded and walked back towards the house making arrangements with LeighAnne.
