Chapter 27
"She's so small." Jen whispered, reaching her hand into the hole on the side to touch her. Once she touched her skin, she quickly jolted back, as if she was a burning stove. When she realized she was real, she touched her again. "She's beautiful."
"Just like you." Jen looked up to see her husband looking in at their daughter, then he turned his head down and looked at her.
"Thankyou." She said, her chin starting to quiver. Nick leaned down, kissed her softly on the lips, then hugged her. "I love you."
"I love you
too. Thank you for giving me the most beautiful family ever." Jen pulled
back and smiled.

"Me gots a baby! Me gots a baby, Mommy!" Cayleigh chanted while she
was carried into the room in her father's arms.
"Yea Cay! Did you see her yet?"
"Not yeeeeeet!" She spaced out. "I go?"
"Yes you can go. Come here and give me kiss you!" Nick placed her on the edge of the bed and she crawled up to her mother and gave a kiss and a big hug.
Nick laughed to himself and kissed her. "Hey."
"Come here Jay." Jen held her arms open. "I love you guys."
"Love you too Mom." He replied.
"Wanna go see the baby?"
"<gasp>
Yeaaaaaaa!" Cayleigh slurred.
***
"Pwetty baby! Daddy wook! She pwetty!!"
"Aww she's so small!"
"Yea, I know. It's gonna be different from when we brought Cay home Jay. She wasn't this small... But Heaven isn't going to come home with Mommy. She'll be here for a few weeks."
"She not ours?" Cayleigh asked holding her hands open.
"No, she's ours Baby. But she was born early so she'll have to stay here for a few days." Jen explained. "Wanna touch her?" Both kids nodded, and Jen asked for a nurse to come over and open the incubator up.
"She's soft." Jay announced.
"Look Daddy! My hands are bigger then hers." Cayleigh said.
"Yea!" He said patting her back. "Why don't we go get some dinner and come back tomorrow morning to pick up mommy?"
"<sigh> I guess so." Jay answered.
"Alright, we'll go with her back to the room and then we'll leave."
"I don't want to leave Mommy!" Cayleigh started to say, then broke down in little cries.
"Aw Cayleigh, don't do this. Mommy'll be sad. Come on, hold my hand." Jen said grabbing her daughter's hand and walking back to the room.
When they got to the room, Jen kneeled down so that she was level with Cayleigh and Jayson.
"Give me a hug and a kiss." She said, taking each of them at a time and kissing them. "I love you both." She stood up and looked at Nick.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He said taking her in his arms.
"I wish I could just come home right now. I hate sleeping in my own bed and eating discusting food."
"One more day, Baby. I love you." He kissed her.
"Love you
too." She said, watching them turn away and walk down the hallway, Cayleigh
screaming and crying the whole way because she wanted to stay with her.

(( A week
and a half later ))
"Nick?" Jen screamed climbing up the stairs. "Where are you?"
"The bedroom!" He screamed back. Jen walked down the hallway to their bedroom to find Nick setting up the basinet.
"I guess you read their minds." She stated. He looked back at her weird.
"Who's minds?"
"The hospital just called.. we can go pick her up now." She smiled, starting to cry.
"Let's go!"
Nick replied with excitment.
***
"Hi Mrs. Carter."
"Hello Ms. Kathy. How are ya?"
"Good, thankyou. How about yourself?"
"Pretty good. I'm actually here early to pick Cayleigh up. We brought the baby home today, and we're going down to Cape Coral to visit family."
"Okay, i'll go get her. I won't tell her she's home."
"Thanks." Jen smiled. A few minutes later, the teacher returned with Cayleigh, and she ran into her mother's arms. "Hey Cay. I have a suprise for you!"
"You do? What? What? What?"
"It's in the car. Daddy's out there with Jayson."
"He not in school?" Jen shook her head, then brought Cayleigh out to the car. She opened the backdoor.
"<gasp> Hi Heaven!!" She said kissing her face. Jen buckled her into her carseat and they were off.
