Chapter 13
~Nick's POV~
"Lindsay? Wake up!" I said shaking the limp body. "Damn it, Lindsay, wake up!" I said louder and shook her roughly trying to wake her up. All of a sudden I remembered the last time I found her on the beach when she was all bruised. I tried listening for a breath. I only heard a faint one. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were closed. I tried picking her up and found it was easier than the last time I had to carry her from the beach. She definitely wasn't as heavy. I put my thoughts aside and walked as fast as I could to my house. I rang the doorbell and began banging on the door hoping someone would hurry up. The door opened and Aaron stood there. I rushed into the house and placed her down on the couch.
"Lindsay?" Aaron said starring at her.
"Aaron, go get some towels and get mom from the garden." I said
jogging into the kitchen to get bottled water and ice. Aaron handed me the towels and ran outside yelling for mom. I wrapped some ice in the towel and placed it on Lindsay's forehead. She was really warm and her cheeks were still flushed.
"Nick, where is she?" I heard mom yell making her way into the living room. She propped Lindsay up and listened for her breathing. She grabbed the bottled water and poured a little bit into her mouth. I kept the ice on her head and started patting her hair down. All of a sudden she began to drink the water and her eyes opened slowly. "Lindsay, take the water, sweetie." Mom said as she slowly took the water into her hands.
~One Hour Later~My POV~
I woke up feeling very cold and very tired. I slowly opened my eyes and gripped my head as I sat up. I had a pounding headache and I wasn't even in my own room. "Not again." I sighed remembering the last time I woke up in a mysterious bedroom. This time I recognized it and it was Nick's. I was lying in his bed and when I glanced to my right I saw him sitting there asleep. I began to get up in search of aspirin, but I kinda stumbled on these huge sweat pants I was wearing. I tripped and landed on the floor and began laughing at myself. Nick woke up and came to my side. He helped me sit on the bed and I still couldn't stop laughing.
"Lindsay, are you alright?" Nick asked holding onto my shoulders.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just need Tylenol." Nick got up and retrieved some
Tylenol for me. I swallowed some down with a sip of water and laid down on the bed again. I patted the spot next to me and Nick laid down to my left.
"Lindsay, what is going on?" Nick said seriously.
"What are you talking about?" I said laying on my side facing him.
"Lindsay, you got dehydrated today. You most likely didn't drink
anything before you went running and you haven't been eating a lot lately. I'm worried about you."
"Don't be. There is nothing wrong. Sometimes I don't feel like eating and I forgot to drink something before I left. That's all." I said and stood up in search of my sneakers.
Nick stood up also and grabbed a hold of my left arm. "Lindsay, look at what you are doing to yourself." He said and rolled up the sleeve to see cuts surrounding my wrist. I yanked my arm away.
"Nick, just leave me alone. Stop worrying. I'm fine. I don't want you involved with my problems." I said and slipped on my sneakers. I felt the tears begin to fall.
"Lindsay, you have to talk to someone. This isn't healthy." I stopped tying my shoelaces and looked up at him. He looked so disappointed in me. I felt horrible. All I did was nod my head and I hugged him tightly.
"I am so stupid." I said gripping onto him while the tears cascaded down my cheeks. The last thing I wanted to do was let go of him.
~The Next Day~
I had stayed over Nick's house that night. Jane didn't want me to leave and Nick and I needed to have a long talk. I woke up hearing Jane on the phone with my mom. I sighed and trudged into the kitchen still wearing the huge clothes Nick had given me the day before. I sat down at the kitchen table across from Jane and rested my head on the glass while I listened to the one sided conversation.
"Sure, she'll be home later tonight. We'll be busy today. OK, I will. Buh bye now." Jane said. I glanced up at her as I heard her click the phone off. "Good morning, sweetie. Your mom says hi and that she loves you and she knows you were dehydrated yesterday." Jane explained. I only nodded. I was still drained from yesterday. "Hungry? I can make a mean batch of waffles."
An hour later, everyone had eaten breakfast and I was helping Jane clean up after everyone. "Where's Nick?" I asked realizing I hadn't seen him all morning.
"Oh, he had to go to the studio this morning. They're trying to record some tracks for the next album. He should be home with the other guys in 20 minutes." She said glancing at the clock. "Why don't you get cleaned up. Take a shower and I'll get you some clothes."
I walked up the stairs and took a shower using Nick's bathroom. I didn't bother to blow dry my hair, but instead put it in a french braid. I struggled, but it looked pretty good in the end. I walked out of the bathroom clutching the towel against my body and saw some comfy clothes laid out for me. There was a Nike T-shirt and red wind pants. I slipped them on and walked down the stairs hearing the guys outside playing basketball. I opened the door and immediately the game stopped once they saw me.
"Hey guys." I said quietly walking towards them. I got my rounds of hugs and 'how are you feeling' from the guys. We played a quick game of basketball and my team lost because every time I got the ball someone would tickle me and I would lose it. Nick, Brian, and AJ were doing their little victory dance while Howie, Kevin, and I sat down in the front yard. The guys finally joined us and they told me what they were doing with their next album and stuff. They were definitely taking control. Most of the stuff was written by them and they were really proud of the stuff they were working on.
I left later that night and headed home. I was greeted by my family, but I immediately went to my room when I got in the door. I turned on my stereo, opened the doors to my balcony and turned on the light switch to light the white christmas lights around my room. I glanced at my bed and saw a white rose and a small envelope with my name on it. I picked it up and pressed the button on my answering machine as I saw the light was blinking. I placed the rose down and began to open up the envelope when I heard Lou's voice on my answering machine. "Hi Lindsay. It's Lou. On Saturday, there are going to be some new producers stopping by and they want to meet you. Also, if you have any music you wrote, you can bring that, and we may even try to record some stuff. Just be here at 11 am. Bye." Finally, back in the studio. I wonder why they want to meet me.
"Hey Linds, it's Todd. I wanted to know if you could come to my house on Sunday. I'm having a party and everyone wants to meet you. Call me back and let me know. See ya later. Love ya."
"Hey Linds, I know you were at my house all day and you're probably sick and tired of me, but I hope you like the rose and the card. Stand on your balcony while you read it so I can see you. Gotta go now. Later." Nick's voice filtered through the speaker. I laughed a little and walked out on my balcony. Sure enough I saw Nick sitting patiently by his window. I waved and smiled wondering what this was all about. I walked back into my bedroom and picked up the envelope. I walked back onto the balcony and saw Nick standing with his curtain open. Slowly, I opened up the envelope.
