Chapter 25
Brian's View
It's the next day and Tiffany and I are outside playing basketball and Darlene is playing with Michelle inside.
"I win!" I yelled throwing my hands in the air.
"Can't you go easy on me?" Tiffany pouted sitting down on the court floor.
"No because if I do I would lose, Duh!" I said rolling my eyes.
"You're so mean!" Tiffany said lying on her back.
"No I'm not! I'm the nicest person alive!" I said. Tiffany just smiled at me.
"You look really good in those shorts, you know that?," Tiffany smiled.
"Really?" I said raising my eyebrow.
"Yup!"
"That's nice to know but I already knew that because I look good in anything I wear!"
Tiffany just laughed. I laughed with her.
"Mommy! Mommy!" Michelle screamed running out of the house with a phone in hand. Tiffany sat up and took the phone from her.
Tiffany's View
"Hello? I asked.
"Hey Tiff," I heard a sad voice on the other end.
"Oh hey Nicky. How are you?"
"OK I guess," he said.
"Are you sure?"
"I don't know. I just wanted to know if it was OK if I could come over. I need to talk to you in person."
"OK but wouldn't Brian be better to talk to?" I asked. Brian looked at me curiously.
"I want to talk to you. You know how to make someone feel better and Brian well he makes jokes in serious situations."
"Not always."
"Yeah but most of the time."
"OK, you can come over. You don't have to ask you know."
"Yeah I know," he sighed.
"Well OK, I'll see you in like 5 to 10 minutes?"
"Yeah," he said.
"K bye"
"Bye," he said hanging up the phone. I gave the phone back to Michelle and she ran back into the house.
"What's up?"
"Nick's coming over," I said getting on my feet.
"Why did you say he should talk to me?"
"Just because I thought it would be a better idea to talk about girl problems with you," I shrugged.
"Is he going to talk to me?"
"No he wants to talk to me. Is that OK?"
"Yeah of course it is! Anything for Frack to be happy," Brian slightly smiled.
15 Minutes Later
Darlene's View
I heard a knock at the door so I got up from playing Nintendo and went over to the door. I opened it and there in front of me was Nick.
"Hey Darlene," Nick said softly.
"Hey," I said. I moved out of the way to let Nick by and then I closed the door.
"So what are you doing here?"
"I came to talk to Tiffy," he said.
"Oh," I said disappointed.
"Do you know where she is?" Nick asked looking in the living room.
"Yeah she's upstairs in her room," I said pointing at the stairs.
"K thanks," he said going up the stairs. I watched after him wondering what was wrong. Tiffany will tell me soon enough.
Nick's View
I knocked on Tiffany's door and waited. Tiffany opened the door and smiled at me.
"Hey," she said opening the door wider for me to come in.
"Hey," I said walking past her and into the room. I went over to her and Brian's bed and sat down at the end. She closed the door and came and sat next to me.
"So what's up?" she asked.
"Well um I don't know if I should ask Darlene out or if I should wait and get to know her better."
"I think maybe you should wait a couple of days. I mean you hardly know her and from the way you were acting yesterday I don't think you should rush into anything."
"I guess your right," I sighed.
"Nick?"
"Yeah?"
"Um I've kind of always wanted to know why you love me."
I looked at her surprised.
"Never mind," she said turning her head. She was growing red.
"No it's OK! I was just surprised that you asked that!" I said touching her shoulder. She turned to look at me.
"I'm sorry," she said smiled slightly.
"It's OK! If you want to know then I'll tell you. I think you're beautiful, you're nice, funny, smart, talented, independent, outgoing, and you're my best friend," I said. She smiled at me.
"Thanks," she said softly.
"I'm just telling you the truth."
"Um so why do you like Darlene?"
"She's pretty and she's nice," I shrugged.
"That's it?"
"Well yeah. I don't know her that well and that's all that I can tell from just knowing her for like a day."
"Then you should wait," she said nodding her head.
"Yeah I am," I sighed.
"Good idea," she said patting me on the knee.
"It was your advice," I smiled.
"OH! I'm sorry!" Brian said in the doorway.
"Oh no it's OK!" I said standing up.
"Are you sure? I just came in here to get my hat," he said walking over to the dresser and picking up his hat.
"Yeah it's fine, we were just talking and now we're done," Tiffany said getting up.
"OK," he smiled. "Hey Nick? You want to go to the park with Michelle and me?"
"Sure!" I said.
"Am I invited?" Tiffany asked.
"Yeah of course you are!" Brian smiled.
"Good!" Tiffany smiled.
We all went downstairs and into the living room. Darlene was sitting on the couch with Michelle in her lap probably waiting for all of us.
"Ready to go!?" Brian said picking up Michelle.
"YEAH!" she giggled.
"Then let's go!" Brian said walking out of the room. I followed him and Tiffany and Darlene followed behind me.
Tiffany's View
"So what's up with Nick?" Darlene asked me.
"Oh he just wanted to talk. He's OK! Nothing to worry about!" I said.
"Good," she sighed. "I was worried about him."
"He's OK, he just needed to talk about some stuff."
"K," she said.
"Daddy look! Come push me on the swings!" Michelle screamed in front of us.
"OK," Brain laughed running after her toward the playground. Nick followed him. Darlene and I want over to the benches and sat down.
"God Nick is so cute," Darlene said staring at Nick.
"Yeah I guess he is but Brian's cuter," I said smiling at Darlene.
"Think what you want!" she laughed. Nick looked at us and smiled. He got up from the grass and started to walk aver to us.
"Hey Darlene do you want to go for a walk?" Nick asked looking at Darlene.
"Um yeah sure!" Darlene smiled. She got up and walked a little in front of Nick. Nick smiled at me and I mouthed 'good luck'. He turned and walked up to Darlene and smiled at her. Oh please god let him not sound or do anything stupid!
