Chapter 2

"Come on, she's just moving in. I was showing her how to get here. The rest of her family is here. What's your problem?" I heard Nick yelling.

"Ok, I'm sorry Mr.Carter. I just have to keep a close eye on the people coming in here considering you're off tour now." the old security officer said.

Wait, stop the presses! Off tour? What does this guy do? My thoughts were interrupted by a beeping noise of the front gates opening for our entrance. I saw give me a wave of his hand telling me to follow him. I did as he instructed until the officer stopped me. Oh great! I thought.

"I'm very sorry for the hold up Ms..."

"Keifer, Lindsay Keifer." I said doing the best James Bond voice I could. He stifled a laugh and said.

"Ok, Lindsay, I'm John. It's nice to meet you. It seems as though Mr.Carter is waiting for you. Better catch up. See you later." he said extending his hand for a shake.

"Thanks a lot, John. Have a good day." I said with a nod and a large smile. I pulled up behind Nick's vehicle. I saw him look back and we proceeded to drive down Ocean Ave. I noticed a large U-Haul and honked my horn to get Nick's attention. He in turn pulled off to the side of the road.

Nick turned off his engine and hopped out of his truck. I pulled my car up behind his and turned off the engine when I Nick opened up the door for me.

"Thanks, Nick." I stated with a smirk on my face.

"No prob, Linds." We walked to the front door of my new house and I knew right then I had made a wonderful friend. I mean, look, I meet this guy in a pit stop shop kinda place, he lives where I live, he offers me directions, and from the looks of it, he is going to help me move some stuff into the house. "Are you going to knock on the door?" Nick asked waking me from my thoughts. I nodded and stepped into the house with Nick right behind me. I looked upward to see a large chandelier hanging above our heads. Right in fron of us were the stairs, so we slowly walked up the white carpeted steps. When we reached the top step, I searched for my parents.

No sign of them. Oh well. I spotted a large room of to the left, so I decided to walk down the hall leading to that room. On the door, I saw a painted moon and star.

"Must be mine." I said. I turned around to look for Nick. Where did he go? "Nick?"

"In here. Follow my voice." he said from a distant room.

"Then Nick, you kinda have to keep talking so I can find you." I said with a little laugh.

"Yeah,sorry. Lindsaaaaaaay, Lindsaaaaaaay, Lindsaaaaaaay."

"Ha, I found you." I said jumping on his back. He just stood there looking at something. "What are you looking at?" I said sweetly.

"Check out that tub! It's huge. You could have a party in it!" he said laughing. I laughed along with him.

"Come on, I wanna see my room." I said grabbing his hand. I dragged him towards the door with the painted moon and star and slowly opened it. I dropped Nick's hand and entered the room. It was wonderful. Someone had already brought up my white wicker furniture. The carpet was a dark blue color, the walls and ceiling were white just waiting for me to paint them.

I stepped farther into the room and walked to a door. "Hmmmm..." I said outloud. I walked through the door and into a gigantic walk-in closet.

"Linds! Check this out!" I followed Nick's voice out of the closet and up two steps and into another room. This room was not furnished, but it was carpeted. "Look, you've got a balcony." I walked to a pair of french doors and opened them slowly. I walked onto the balcony and looked into the distance. "Hey, see that house over there?" Nick pointed off the right to a three story house with an in ground swimming pool. I nodded. "Looks like we're neighbors, chicky!" I slowly looked up to meet his gaze with a large smile.

"Yup, it's all good." Nick looked at me funny, but cracked a smile. We exited my room hearing the front door to the house open. We walked down the steps side by side and saw a little boy with light brown hair in a ceasar style hair cut.

"Hey,sis!" I heard a familiar voice say.

"What's up, 'lil bro?" I said messing up his hair.

"Watch the do! Hey,who's this?" my younger brother asked.

"Oh, Nick, meet Nick. He's our new neighbor." I said with a little laugh looking from my brother to Nick.

"Hey,little dude! Nice to meet ya. Cool name." Nick said. My brother in turn put out his hand for a handshake. This wasn't a normal handshake. They did all this weird stuff, with slapping each other's arms and... I don't know.

"Ok." I said feeling awkward watching the two. Both looked at me. "Do you have to be home anytime soon, Nick?" He shook his head 'no', so I continued. "I'm sure, you could stay for dinner if you wanted to." I said kind of hopefully.

"Yeah, that sounds good. I just got to leave by seven. I promised my friend we'd shoot some hoops." he replied.

"Oh alright. I think we're gonna order out for some pizza. Sound good?"

Nick gave me this look that said 'are you crazy?' while rubbing his stomach.

"I'll take that as a yes. Oh,come meet the rest of my family, or my mom will think I invited a stranger over our house." He nodded and followed me down a hall I hoped led to the place where my mom would be. We found my mom in the kitchen searching through cabinets. "Mom." she turned around.

"I'd like you to meet Nick, he's our new neighbor. He showed me how to get here." My mom gave me a questionable look, whiped off her hand, and extended it to Nick.

"Nice to meet you Nick, I'm Lindsay's mom, you can call me Robynn." my mom said with a large grin on her face. Well,at least she seems to like him. I thought. My mom only liked two of my friends in PA, so this is a good sign. "Sammy's out in the back, sweetie."

"Nice meeting you... Mom." Nick said with a smile on his face. I looked at him funny and he pushed me out the back door. I turned around and looked at Nick. "Sorry, I didn't want to call her Robynn, so I just said mom." I laughed while Nick gave me a smirk. I walked into the backyard before I was attacked by a large white animal with teeth.
