Chapter 3
I was knocked to the ground before a word came out of my mouth. Then I felt a tongue. I opened my eyes to see my dog, Brandy, standing over me licking me with my two other dogs right behind her. I slowly got up realizing Nick was trying to fight off my one year old boxer, Biscuit. "Oh, crap." I said jogging over to Nick. I reached down and lifted the puppy up with a little bit of difficulty. Then I heard Nick say...
"My hero" in a girly voice while batting his eyelashes and holding his hands near his face. I placed Biscuit back on the grass while giving nick a look of total humor.
"Only you could pull that one off." I said while running away from Nick when I noticed the look of shock creep onto his face.
~Two Days Later~
"Hey Steve. It's Lindsay. I've arrived in Flori..." I began with a voice
of depression when someone picked up.
"Lindsay? Wow, haven't heard from you in a while." Steve was a good friend
of mine from PA. We've been friends for about four or five years, but we
kinda drifted when I moved. I had the phone number to our new house before
we left so I gave it to him, but he never called. I was really dissapointed.
"Yeah. Well, I left a few messages on your machine and you said you'd call."
I said with a little bit of anger present in my voice. "I've really missed
you, I hope you know. How come you never called?" I asked.
"Well, to be honest...I haven't had time. I've been busy with the play and
everything. But,I did meet this girl named Rachel. She is so great to talk
to. I can tell her everything. It's great!" Steve said now sounding excited.
"Oh, I see." I said feeling replaced. He used to tell me EVERYTHING. The
time he tried smoking pot...I knew. All the girls he liked...I knew about
them too. We could trust eachother with everything. It was great! I couldn't
think of anything to say. I sat there thinking of him and I for a little
while. I loved being his friend. Not knowing what else to say, I said "Ok
Steve. I have to go to my friend's house. Bye." I hung up the phone before
he could reply. I ran to an empty corner of my room and began to cry. When
I thought the tears had been drained from my eyes, I stood up and walked
to the balcony. I slowly opened the french doors and stepped into the cool
air. I took a deep breath of fresh air and looked towards the right only
to see through the windows of a large white house. Inside a room, I saw an
older guy sitting in front of the television screen with a controller. "Nick"
I stated simply. I ran out of the house and jogged over to Nick's house while
a few tears trickled down my cheeks.
"One sec." I heard an unfamiliar voice call out. A man with curly light brown
hair said, "Hi, can I help you?" I looked at him questioningly.
"Uh.....is *sniffle* Nick home?" I asked with a tiny voice as I looked at
my Nike sneakers. I saw a pair of feet walking over to the door. I looked
up and saw Nick's blue eyes.
"Oh god, Linds, what happened?" he asked quickly as hepulled me into the
house. Did I look that bad? I guess, 'cuz if I cry, my eyes and face get
really red. I was pulled into the living room and placed on the couch. "Tell
me, what happened?" I looked at Nick with pleading eyes. "Ok,let's go upstairs."
Just then the strange man walked into the room. He let out a cough to let
us know he was there. "Yo, Rok, this is Lindsay." I looked up not really
wanting to, but he had already seen my face. Oh well.
"So, this is Lindsay? It's very nice to meet you. Nick has told me so much
about you." he said with a large grin on his face. "By the way, I'm Brian,
you can call me B-Rok 'cuz I be rocking your house!" he said while laughing.
He looked at Nick and they began to laugh. Was I missing something? I looked
at Nick and started to cry softly. He pulled me up off the couch and escorted
me upstairs. Nick and Brian shared a glance, but I don't know what that was
about. Nick brought me into a room with a dark green rug. The rug was mathced
to the shade of green on the bed and the green border near the ceiling of
his room.
"Sit down and start from the beginning." Nick gave me a quick hug and held
onto my hand while I repeated the phone coversation to him and tald him of
how good friends we were. When I was finished I began to cry again, but stopped
once I felt Nick's arms around me again. This time was different. I heard
music. I pulled away and looked at Nick. "Everything will be ok. Lay down,
you look tired."
"I am, but don't leave." I said.
"I promise I won't." he said crossing his heart. I slowly layed down on his
soft green bed and hugged a pillow until I heard the music again. This time
it was coming from behind me. I felt an arm creep across my waist. I was
too tired to move it. I listened intently to the music when I realized Nick
was singing to me. I slowly closed my eyes and listened.
"Open up, your heart to me...And say, whats on your mind...I know that we
have been through so much pain...but I still need you in my life, this time.
I need you tonight...I need you right now...I know deep within my heart...It
doesn't matter if its wrong or right...'Cuz I see heaven in your eyes." Nick
continued until he came to a note in which he held a steady pitch to. God
he can sing. I thought right before I drifted to sleep.
~Two Hours Later~
"I know deep within my heart...It doesn't matter if it's wrong or right..."
I heard as I awoke. I slowly turned around expecting Nick to be there singing
again. He wasn't. I looked around the room when my eyes stopped on a radio.
I slowly walked over to it, not trusting my legs to be awake yet and turned
up the volume. It looked like an alarm clock. I guess the alarm went off.
"'Cuz I really need you tonight..." Huh? I thought it was heaven in your
eyes and hold on! That sounded like Nick. Exactly like Nick! "And that was
the Backstreet Boys with Nick Carter's solo 'I Need You Tonight' on the new
K-102." I stood there in shock until I decided to turn the radio off. When
it actually sunk in, I walked downstairs and into the living room.
"Nickolas Gene, where are you?!"
