Chapter 4

"Are you alright?" Nick said stepping out of the kitchen with a concerned look on his face. I began to open my mouth when I saw Brian step out of the kitchen behind him.

"Oh, hey Brian." I said with a little disappointment in my voice.

"Do you want me to go? I'll just be in the other room." I thought for a second.

"No, Brian. Stay here. I think you're involved in this too." Brian looked at me and raised an eyebrow. I walked into the living room leaving two guys with perplexed looks on the faces in the hallway. "Come on, guys. Sit." Nick and Brian entered the room hesitantly. Brian sat on a sofa next to Nick, while I was sitting on the loves seat opposite of them. I looked at Nick, then Brian. Then Nick and Brian exchanged glances.

"Ok, first of all, I just want to say thank you Nick for staying with me before and thanks for singing. You have a wonderful voice." I started.

"Thanks." Nick said while a smile appeared on his face. Brian looked at him a shot him an evil look. Nick's smile disappeared.

"I'm not finished Mr. Carter." Nick sat up when I said that. Guess I was too forceful. Oh well. "I loved that song you were singing to me, but I think I heard that song on the radio before." Nick just stared at me. "What I'm basically saying is, are you two part of the Backstreet Boys?" I said pointing to both of them. They exchanged glances and then all eyes fell on Nick. He got up and moved next to me on the love seat.

"Well, Ms. Keifer, we are guilty as charged." Nick said mocking me. I looked over at Brian. He shrugged his shoulders. Nick took my hand in his. "Are you mad at me? I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just thought it'be cool if you didn't know and then I could surprise you at a concert or something." Nick explained.

"Nick, I'm not angry, but it's better I found out now 'cuz I wouldn't have gone to the concert." Nick looked at me with shock on his face and I thought Brian's eyes were gonna pop out of his head. "I'm not really into pop music.

I like some eightie's music, and some Nirvana, Foo Fighters, KoRn, alternative stuff." I said.

"Oh, that's cool. Hey, like Journey?" Nick asked hopefully.

"Of course I like Journey, Blondie!" I said and smacked him lightly in the head. Nick looked at Brian and before I knew it I was on the ground being tickled to death. "Hey, I didn't mean *laugh*the blonde thing as a bad thing. I mean *laugh* look, i'm *laugh* blonde too." Nick and Brian looked at each other almost debating whether to stop or not. When they turned back to look at me I cringed, but the instead tried to help me up.

"Hey, wanna stay over for pizza. Nick and I ordered some just before you came down." I looked at Nick and he nodded. I tapped my chin with my finger. "Oh, come on. We even got one half pepperoni. Nick said you looked like a pepperoni kinda girl." I laughed and looked at Nick when he started to laugh and he gave me a kinda puppy dog look.

"Ok, I'll stay. Just let me call home." I gave in. How could I say no to that face?

~Three Hours Later~

Nick, Brian, and I talked about everything from music, to their career, to basketball, but I suddenly became quiet when we started talking about relationships. Nick and Brian were off in their own world talking about the romantic things they've done for girls while I sat there and fiddled with my dirty napkin.

"Linds!" Brian yelled. "Where have you been? We just asked you something."

"Oh,sorry Bri. I just didn't here. I guess I had a blonde moment." It was fun using blonde jokes considering Nick and I were blonde and Brian was considering dying his hair a lighter shade. After we stopped laughing, Brian turned to me with a serious face and asked me a question I really didn't want to answer.

"I asked you what have boyfriends done to you that was really sweet or romantic. Guys like us need to know what a girl wants." Brian said while he raised his eyebrows and smile big.

"Well..." I stuttered. I can't think of anything. Should I just tell them the truth? I can trust them. "To be honest, I wouldn't know." I answered.

"Huh?" they both said looking at me. I felt like a fish in a fishbowl.

"I can't tell you 'cuz I've never had a boyfriend. I've had guy friends and everything, but I've never been on a date and I don't think anyone has liked me." I said sounding depressed.

"Well, have you ever been kissed?" Nick asked with a look of shock on hid face. Why were they making this so difficult? Maybe 'cuz they were staring at me with wide eyes. I looked at Nick. It seemed like his eyes were piercing through mine. When I looked into his eyes, I knew I could tell him everything.

"I have, but I don't think they ever wanted to kiss me. I've only kissed three guys and that was just a peck. There was this guy one time when I was younger who mad these moves on me one day, but we were just friends, it was nasty. The next day, he acted like nothing happened. So, I consider myself to have never been kissed." I said actually sounding somewhat proud of my last sentence. I like being inexperienced. I never thought of guys as more than friends and I liked it like that. The room fell silent.

"Wow, I find that hard to believe. You're a great person. I'm sure guys have liked you." Brian said breaking the silence.

"Thanks, Rok. That's nice, but everything I said is true. I've never gotten a guy. The only girls in my old high school who got the guys, wore tight pants, tight shirts, and lots of make up and as you can see I don't look like that." I said pointing to my loose fitted shirt, and green wind pants.

"Well, you know you're gonna have to go to school Monday, right?" I nodded my head. "Well, we're the same age and I assume we're in the same grade which means we're seniors. Since the guys and I are off tour, I decided to take my last year of high school." Nick said

"Cool, but what's your point? You sound excited." I said raising an eyebrow.

"How about we go shopping this weekend? We'll go to the mall. I'll bring all the guys and we're gonna pick out clothes for you. Come on, AJ loves to shop!" Nick said looking at Brian. Brian nodded

"Ok, I guess, but won't you guys get noticed and won't you feel weird looking for girl clothes?" I asked.

"Of course not, Nick is always looking for girl clothes. He hasn't told you what he does on Saturday nights, has he?" Nick hit Brian upside his head and shook his own head in disgust. "Nah, I'm just playing. Hopefully we won't get noticed. We'll bring our bodyguards." Wo, bodyguards, that's trippy. I think I'm gonna have to take them up on the offer. I could use some clothes.

"Ok, it doesn't sound so bad. Plus I wanna meet the other guys." I said smiling.

"Good" Nick replied. "I would've made you go if you said no." I looked at him funny.

"Ok, so it's settled. Linds I'll pick you up tomorrow at 12:00 noon. I'll call the other guys and tell them to meet us somewhere. We'll have lunch and we'll shop for you. Ok?" I nodded my head. I looked at my watch.

"Nick, I gotta go." Nick looked at his watch.

"It's too late, you can't go." He sat there in deep thought for a second. "You can sleep over. I'm sure your mom won't mind. Let me call her." Nick jumped up to get the phone before I could say anything. I looked over at Brian.

"You should stay. I have to get home. Nick is really lonely since everyone's gone with his brother on tour. It would mean a lot. I mean, he's been talking about you for the past few days. Seems like he's known you for years." I nodded.

"Hey, Mom!" I heard Nick say from the kitchen. I don't know what my mom is going to say. I think she likes him... Should I stay or should I leave?
