Chapter 14
I had just thrown a quick outfit on consisting of black pants, a light blue fitted 3/4 sleeve shirt, and my black boots. I was brushing my teeth when the phone rang. I quickly wiped my mouth off and ran to the phone. "Hello?" I asked. I was really in a hurry.
"Linds? It's Dad." my father spoke. Are you serious? Of all times he calls now. I haven't heard from him since I had been down here. We talked for about fifteen minutes when I looked at my clock. 6:30! Crap, it takes me like a half hour to get there. I told my dad I needed to be somewhere. I told him about my singing "gig" tomorrow. He was really happy considering he was a d.j. We hung up the phone. I ran back into the bathroom and quickly applied powder and lip gloss. I ran down the stairs, and out of the house waving good-bye to my family. I got into my car and in a matter of fifteen minutes I was at the airport. I ran through the place almost breaking my neck over mountains of luggage piled in my way. I searched frantically for their gate hearing their flight being called. I saw a few husky men and recognized Q instantly. I jogged over to him.
"Where are the guys?" I said as Q and I slapped each other fives. He opened a door that said VIP.
"They've been expecting you." He said. I smiled and walked into the room to see Tiffany (the blonde bimbo from school) latched onto Nick. I blinked my eyes closed, then opened them wishing she wasn't there. When I opened my eyes, there she was wearing practically nothing. UGH! I walked over to Brian who noticed tension in the air. He gave me a big hug.
"I have no idea why she is here, Linds." He pulled away as I looked at him.
"Well, I'm gonna miss ya, B!" I said as he handed me a sheet of paper.
"Me too, Linds." I took the paper and glanced at it. "Ok, this is a list of numbers where you can reach everyone. Even management. Nick was gonna give it to you, but he looks kinda busy." We both glanced at Nick to see Tiffany planting a long kiss on Nick's cheek while hugging him tightly. Brian and I looked at each other. He shook his head. "Well, gotta go, sweetie. I'll call you when we get to New York." Brian and I hugged again. We kissed each other on the cheek. I then saw Howie and Kev walk up to me. I hugged them both as I glanced at AJ. He was looking at Tiffany's butt intently. It was sickening. Howie and Kevin both wished me luck with my audition for Lou. I thanked them and they walked out of the room. I walked up to AJ and tapped on his shoulder. He turned around.
"Hey Linds! How ya been?" I gave him a look of disgust. He glanced at Tiffany. "Oh, I see."
"I know you do. I think you've been staring with your tongue hanging out." He shook his head.
"You're a trip, Linds. I tell ya." We hugged quickly. "B-Rok gave you the 411, right?" AJ asked. I nodded. "Alright, see ya later, toots." AJ and I quickly kissed each other's cheeks before he left me in the room with Nick and Tiffany.
"Ok, Nicky. Make sure you call me. I wanna make sure you're alright. Bye sweetie." Tiffany said chewing her gum as she leaned in and kissed Nick on the lips. Nick looked a bit taken aback, but went with it. She pulled away only to see Nick now chewing gum. Ok, I think I need a barf bag. Tiffany turned around and began to walk off when she saw me. "Oh, hey Linds." she said hugging me. I didn't return the hug. I couldn't even look at her or Nick for the matter. I had to admit I was upset that they were now a couple. Nick could do so much better. At least find someone with brains. I looked up only to gaze into Nick's eyes. He looked at me chewing the gum. I honestly don't think he noticed the little gum exchange. We were standing about three feet away from each other when we heard his flight being called for the last time. I walked up to him, and hugged him quickly. I could smell Tiffany on him, so I backed to up slowly.
"Bye Nickolas. Have fun." I said as I walked to the door. I opened it and saw Q waiting for Nick. "Bye Q." I said as we slapped each other fives. I walked quickly past him as a tear trickled down my cheek. I wiped it off and to my surprise that was the only tear. I heard a door open and then heard feet running towards me. I was then turned around by a strong hand on my arm. I turned around to see Nick with worry in his eyes. He quickly pulled me into his arms. I tried to fight, but he was kinda strong.
"I'm gonna miss you. Good luck tomorrow. I'm not really sure what's happening right now, but I will let you know. And don't walk out on me. I'll call you later." Nick said. I turned around and walked away. I knew Nick was watching me, but I didn't care. I briskly walked to my car and just sat in it for a few minutes staring at nothing.
~On The Plane (Same Time) ~
"Hey Frack, what took so long?" Brian asked as Nick took a seat next to him.
Nick turned to look at him with sad eyes.
"I lost her, man. I think she was pissed Tiff was there." Nick explained.
Brian noticed something on Nick's cheek and grabbed his face so he could
see what it was. There was a big dark red lipstick mark on Nick's face.
"Dude, you better check that out. Someone left lipstick on your face. Hey,
and there's some on your lips too. I assume it's not Lindsay's." Brian said
looking at Nick squarely. Nick shook his head. He explained everything and
Brian came to a conclusion. "I know you've been friends for a few weeks now,
but I gotta say, you guys are really close. I can feel it. I know she's got
feelings for you and I think you've got feelings for her, but I'm not sure
considering what happened before. All I'm saying is, she's been through a
lot and you better do something about it before you really lose her." Brian
said as he turned to face the window.
I was looking out my window, when I realized I needed to get home. I quickly
started up the engine and drove to my house trying not to think about Nick.
~10:00 am (Next Day) ~
"Linds, you up? There's someone at the door for you." My brother said opening
my door. I quickly slipped out of bed, slipped on my robe and slippers, and
walked down the stairs. I was greeted by a man in a UPS uniform. He held
two boxes in his arms.
"Lindsay Keifer?" I nodded. "Just sign here." He said handing me a clipboard.
He handed me the boxes. "Have a nice day Miss."
"You too. Thanks." I said as I closed the door. One box was long and slim
with a red ribbon wrapped around it while the other was a little box that
fit in the palm of my hand. I slowly undid the red ribbon and removed the
top of the box. Inside laid thirteen roses. One was sprayed a green color.
A smile grew on my face as I picked up the flowers. I smelled them and searched
for a string, so I could dry them to hang on my wall. I came back to the
other box. I pulled off the wrapping and opened the white box. Inside lay
the star charm I had seen a week ago in the mall. I picked up the charm and
held it in front of my face. I dangled and then spun around. Something was
on the back. I brought it close to my eyes only to see a message inscribed
on the back. I read it outloud. "Wishing you were here. Good Luck~Nick."
There was a little heart engraved near Nick's name. I smiled when the phone
began to ring. I walked over to it. "Hello?" I asked.
"Linds, it's Kristin."
"Yeah, hi. What's up?"
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted company at the studio today..."
"Yeah sure, that's be nice." I said smiling.
"Ok, cool. Can I bring my friend, Dallas? She's new."
"No prob. The more the merrier." I said as we laughed. We hung up. I told
Kristin I'd pick her up at 10:45 cuz my audition as at 11:00 and Jive wasn't
too far away. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I quickly got into
the shower and hurried to get ready for my meeting with Lou and management.
