Chapter 33

The Next Day

Tiffany's View

I was in my room looking out the window waiting for Brian to pull up to the house. I was growing impatient. My Mom talked to him last night and he said that he was coming up here to talk to me. I couldn't wait.

"Mom! Are you sure he's coming today?" I yelled down to my Mom. She opened the door and looked at me.

"For the millionth time, yes! Be patient," she said. "You're acting like your 16 again."

"Sorry, I can't help it," I said.

"It's all right. Your father will be home soon with the kids," she said. I nodded my head and then turned back to the window. The kids have been gone all day today and yesterday with my Dad. My Dad loves to spoil them. I don't know what they have been doing but I know he's had a hand full with all of them.

"He'll be here soon," she said and then left the room. I just stared out the window hoping Brian didn't change his mind on coming.

Brian's View

"Can you go any faster?" I asked impatiently.

"It's rush hour, what do you expect?" the driver of the cab said.

I groaned and looked out the window. We weren't even moving!

"How long is it going to take?" I asked.

"How should I know?"

"Because you're the damn driver! Can't you just run over these people? I need to go see my wife," I said.

"Oh really?" the driver teased turning around and wriggling his eyebrows.

"Ugh, please just drive the car," I said looking away. This guy grosses me out. He has black and yellow teeth and he just completely smells. I had to be stuck with him of course. About 30 minutes later he finally drove up to the house. I quickly pushed open the door and scrambled out. I threw some 20 dollar bills in the drivers window and rushed around the side of the car.

"What about your change?" he yelled out.

"Keep it!" I yelled back. The driver shrugged and then drove off. I turned and looked at the house. I was growing nervous. I was getting butterflies in my stomach and my palms were getting sweaty. I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't sure if Tiffany would even talk to me. I talked to her Mom yesterday and she said that Tiffany would but I couldn't help but fear that she wouldn't.

I was about to walk up to the house when the front door flew open. Tiffany stood there looking at me. She looked so beautiful.

"Sweetie..."

"Oh gosh Brian," she said softly and then ran out to me. She wrapped her arms around my neck and hugged me tight. I was surprised at how she greeted me but I ignored it and embraced her.

"I missed you so much," she said into my ear.

"I missed you too."

"I love you so much and I'm so sorry for leaving," she said pulling back and looking into my eyes. She was about to cry.

"I love you too baby. It's not your fault though, it's mine. I should have spent more time with you guys and I'm sorry. I'm not going to do that to you guys again. Just please don't divorce me over it," I pleaded.

"Divorce you?" she asked. I just nodded my head.

"I could never do that," she said kissing my lips.

"I'm still very sorry. I won't do it again," I said setting my forehead on hers. She slightly smiled at me and said, "I'm glad to hear that."

I smiled at her and then picked her up spinning her around.

"I love you, I love you, I love you," I said kissing her lips. She giggled and hugged me.

"Lets go in the house, my Mom is dying to see you," she said. I nodded my head and took her hand.

"Hey Mrs. Brown," I greeted her mother as we walked into the kitchen. She looked up at me and smiled.

"Brian! It's so good to see you!" she exclaimed getting up from her chair and hugging me. I kissed her cheek and said, "It's nice to see you too."

"Are you two alright now?" she asked looking from me to Tiffany.

"I hope so," I said taking Tiffany's hand and kissing it. Tiffany just smiled and nodded her head.

"You two are perfect together. Try not to fight anymore. I get enough from Tim and the rest of your sister and brother's," she said looking at Tiffany. I just laughed lightly.

"Mom, Brian and I are going to go talk, OK?" Tiffany said. Her Mom nodded and then smiled.

"Have fun," she grinned. Tiffany ignored her and walked out of the room. I followed after her.

"Baby, where are the kids?" I asked as I closed her door behind me.

"Out with my Dad somewhere," she said sitting on the bed.

"Your Dad sure loves to spoil them," I said.

"I know, but it's a good thing. He likes being a grandfather," she smiled. I sat next to her and kissed her lips.

"I missed you, ya know," I said.

"I missed you more," she said kissing me back.

"We aren't going to argue," I smiled at her. She grinned at me and kissed my nose.

"I have a secret," I said looking at Tiffany. She looked at me and smiled.

"Tell me!"

"Well, it might not be a secret...I'm sure you already know," I said. She smacked my arm and said, "Tell me! Please please please please! Ya know, secrets don't make friends!"

I laughed lightly and leaned over and kissed her cheek. I then whispered in her ear, "I love you."

She smiled widely and flung her arms around my neck pushing me back on the bed. I laughed as she kissed me over and over. I kissed her back and held her tightly to me.

It looks like Tiffany and I are alright now, thank goodness! I was scared for a while there. I admit, what I did was stupid beyond belief but at least I learned from it. My family is more important than my work...I always used to tell myself that but deep down I just thought of them as being equal. Tiffany made me see differently. She made me realize that my family actually is the most important thing in my life and nothing can be put in front of it. I love my family and I always will. Life throws a lot of things at you but I'm grateful for what has happened. It just makes me learn and makes me become a better person, friend, father, and husband. Tiffany's the one that has taught me the most. I pray to God and thank him everyday for giving her to me. Without her I wouldn't be who I am today. Without her I wouldn't be able to be as happy as I am. Without her I wouldn't have my family and without her I wouldn't still be singing. She keeps me going everyday of my life. I don't know what I would do without her. What can I say except...I love her.
