Chapter 68
Brian's View
"Hey baby? Where are you honey?" I asked walking up
the stairs and toward our room. Tiffany went up stairs a little while ago
and I haven't heard from her since. She usually asks for help every 10 minutes
for something.
"I'm in here reading a book," she replied. I walked
into our room and found her on the bed.
"You have too much free time now that you're pregnant.
How many books have you read?" I asked sitting down on the bed in front of
her.
"A lot!" she laughed.
"It's a good thing
Reading is educational," I
said.
"Yeah yeah yeah
so what's up hot stuff?" she
asked putting her book down.
"Colleen just called," I smiled widely.
"And that is important how?" she asked.
"She told me something."
"What did she tell you?" she asked curiously.
"That her and AJ went to the doctor's office today,"
I said.
"Why?" she asked worried.
"It just turns out that Colleen is pregnant," I
smiled.
"Really!? That's great! Do they know the sex?" she
asked.
"Yep!"
"Tell me! Tell me!"
"They're having a baby girl!" I said happily.
"That's great! They've been trying for a girl
I
bet they're really happy I mean I'm really happy so they must be
ecstatic."
"They are believe me! Colleen was practically screaming
in my ear," I laughed.
"Aww
how cute!"
"Yeah I know
That's not all I wanted to tell
you though," I said turning a little serious.
"What is it?" she asked.
"You know how we went to the doctor's a little while
ago to check up on the babies?" I asked taking her hands in mine.
"Yeah
what about it?" she asked shakily.
"I got a call from the doctor's office a few minutes
ago," I said softly.
"Brian what did they say? Are the babies all
right?"
"They'll survive if that's what you mean."
"Brian what's wrong with them?" Tiffany asked starting
to cry.
"Shh
don't get upset. He just told me that the
babies
well they have
"
"What Brian? What do they have?"
"They have heart problems," I said softly.
"Heart problems?" she asked quietly.
I nodded and said, "They both have a hole in their
hearts and to make matters worse they have your heart problem too," I said
starting to get choked up. That news then made Tiffany burst into tears.
I frowned and pulled her close to me.
"They're going to be all right honey. They aren't
going to die or be deformed. You have nothing to worry about," I
soothed.
"Nothing to worry about? My babies have huge heart
problems!"
"Tiffany it isn't that bad. They'll survive and they
can be treated. They'll grow up just like any other kid but they will have
restrictions at some things."
"So they'll be OK?" she asked looking at me with water
filled eyes. I slightly smiled and wiped the tears away from her cheeks,
"They'll be fine."
"Promise?"
"I promise
I wouldn't lie to you baby," I said
gently.
"I love you," she said quietly. I put her face into
my hands and kissed her gently on the lips.
"I love you too sweetie, Now why don't you get your
rest? I bet you're pretty tired now," I said getting up off the bed.
"Yeah I am," she lightly laughed.
"I'll keep the kids quiet and if you need anything
just call for me OK princess?"
"OK
thank you," she said lying down. I covered
her up and kissed her cheek, "Anything for you my love. Now get some
sleep."
She smiled at me and then closed her eyes. I looked
at her for a few minutes and then at her stomach. I knew this would happen
to one of our kids. We have been grateful that the other kids didn't catch
what we have but now two of my little angels finally got what we got. I won't
think anything less of them at all. They are my babies and I'm gonna love
and care for them no matter what.
I bent down and kissed her stomach softly and whispered,
"I love you little angels."
