Chapter 9
A PAIN OF SUFFERING
(Brian’s house)
Kevin walks slowly
try to hide his pain. He was lucky coz General Wright let
him free for a while. Seems like General Wright wants to see how much truth
in Kevin’s statements. Kevin knocks the door. Not long after, Mr. Littrell
opens the door and saw Kevin standing in front of him.
“Kevin! What’s
happening to you?! Come on, get in!” Mr. Littrell quickly
bring a chair for Kevin.
“What’s
happening to you?” Mr. Littrell sat in front of Kevin, “Your body
full with harms,”
“Is Brian in?” ask Kevin.
“Yeah, wants me to call him up?” ask Mr. Littrell.
“No! Please don’t, dad. Please,” Kevin ignores, “I just want to see you,”
“Okay,” Mr. Littrell nods, “Now tell me what happen,”
“You know,
I had no dad since I was 20. That you were my only dad I’d have
until now. Would you mind if I want to tell you about my suffer?” Kevin
ask
the permission.
“Sure, Kevin. You’re like my son since Richardson dead,” Mr. Littrell said.
“I… I’d
been tortured since Fenbern escaped. They thought I’d gave the
password to the Tangs. But you know I won't give it no matter what happen,”
Kevin starts.
“I believe
in you, Kevin. I would always believe in you,” Mr. Littrell said,
“Everybody is talking about you now. But I know you won't give it. It must
be anything strange had happen,”
Brian who was actually
sitting at the stairs was listening of the
conversation. He really wants to know what’s the actually had happen to
Kevin.
“I’d
never thought that Howie would starts his general mission. They’d send
the currents and scourges on me. They’d done to me too much that they make
me just like an unlived doll. It’s hurt, dad. It’s really hurt,”
Kevin’s
eyes start to cry.
Mr. Littrell look
at the harms all over Kevin’s body. He feels really sorry
for his extended son. But he knows that he can't do anything.
“Why do they
done this to me? How could they? I’d sacrifice my life for
them, is this what I’ve got?” tears come over Kevin’s cheeks.
“I understand,
Kevin. I understand. Stop crying, okay. A guy doesn’t looks
nice when he’s crying. I’ll always be with you,” Mr. Littrell
rubs Kevin’s
arm softly hoping not to hurt Kevin’s harms.
“The code
makes Fenbern escaped and no one know what will happen next. I
don’t want to stay like this, dad. It’s really hurt. It’s too
hurt,” Kevin
try his best not to cry.
Brian overturns
his head over the wall hearing that. He really doesn’t know
that code is actually that serious. Quickly Brian gets up and walk down.
“Kevin, I
don’t know you’re here,” Brian try to act as usual. Kevin quickly
rub his tears when he realize Brian’s available.
“Have you get your dinner?” ask Brian. Kevin shook his head.
“You must
have your dinner or else you will get ill. Come on, go and wash
your hands,” Brian quickly serve the meals while trying his best not to
cry.
Kevin nods.
“I feel great
today. At last I could have some meals. They’d never fed me
this often before. They gave me a supper for two days,” Kevin said eating
the meal.
Brian feel worse.
Quickly he walk upstairs and locked himself alone leaving
Kevin and Mr. Littrell who are having their dinner together. Brian sat
against the door closing his eyes. Blaming himself to be such a fool letting
the Tangs know about the code and the worst, he annoyed Kevin more than
before. And this is the worst thing he’d ever done in his whole life.
(Kevin’s house)
Kevin sat in his
room try to let free all of his stress. He pick the phone
and dial some numbers. Suddenly, Mrs. Carter answers the call.
“Ma’am, may I talk with Nick, please,” said Kevin.
“Sorry, he’s not in,” said Mrs. Carter.
“Thanks then,” Kevin put down the phone. His body still feels hurt.
Tomorrow night however, Kevin had decided to meet Nick. He reach the house
and knocked the door. Mr. and Mrs. Carter who are sitting in the living room
didn’t move even though they heard the knock. Nick ran down and saw his
parents.
“Mom, the door was knocked,” said Nick.
“I know,” said Mrs. Carter. Nick snorts. He walk to the door.
“Don’t
you dare open the door, Nick!” said Mr. Carter, “We know who’s
coming,”
“He wont step into this house,” Mrs. Carter continue.
Kevin still waiting
outside. He decides to go when the door suddenly opened.
Nick stand right at the door. However, he didn’t open too wide that Kevin
can't even look inside.
“What’s happening, Kevin?” ask Nick try to hide his fears.
“Can I come in?” ask Kevin.
“No! I mean…
I’m going out actually. I’m busy now, Kevin. What do you want?”
Nick quickly answers.
“I just want to have a talk to you,” said Kevin.
“I don’t have enough time, Kev. I’m sorry,” said Nick.
“Well, okay then. I’ll phone you next time,” Kevin was about to go.
“Let me, Kev!” Nick quickly interrupts, “Let me phone you,”
“Okay then,” Kevin walk away.
Nick close the
door. He glance at his father besides him holding a gun
towards him. He says nothing. He’d done what his father had told. He really
don’t want to do that but his parents ask him not to devote to that betrayal
army again.
“I’m sorry, Kev. I’m sorry. I trust you but…” Nick whispered to himself.
