Chapter 14
Nick's View
Chris, Brian and I walked down the street to the nearest Dairy Queen. I couldn't wait to get some ice cream. I haven't had some in so long!
We entered the Dairy Queen and I noticed that Colleen was sitting alone near the window.
"What's she doing here alone?" Brian asked pointing to Colleen. He obviously saw her too.
"Beats me, I'll go see, can you guys get me a mint Oreo breeze?" I asked. Brian nodded and him and Chris went up to the counter. I went over to Colleen and sat down across from her.
"Hey girlie," I smiled at her. She looked up at me surprised and then smiled warmly.
"Hey Nick, what are you doing here?" she asked taking another bite of her ice cream.
"Getting ice cream duh," I laughed.
"Sorry, I'm not all here," she smiled slightly.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Home sick," she said quietly.
"Oh home sickness huh? I get that all the time but you'll get used to it after a while. I try to not let it ruin my fun, this is kind of a once in a lifetime thing," I said.
"I guess you're right," she sighed.
"Of course I'm right! I'm always right!" I joked. She giggled at my comment.
"I'll tell you what, how about I take you out tomorrow night to some place fun so you can get your mind off of some things," I suggested. She looked up at me and smiled.
"You would do that for me?"
"Of course! It's really no problem, I think it would be fun to go out with a pretty girl like you," I grinned at her. Her cheeks flushed and she said, "Thank you."
"I'm not trying to embarrass you," I laughed.
"It's alright, you're cheering me up," she smiled at me.
"I'm glad to hear that, so what do you say? Tomorrow night, all night with lil ol' me?" I asked.
"Sure, what the hell, it should be fun," she nodded.
"Great, I'll try not to make it too boring," I said. She just laughed.
"Ice cream coming through!" Brian yelled coming over to us. He set down my ice cream and slide into the chair next to me. Chris sat next to Colleen.
"Mmm, ice cream," I said licking my lips and then taking a bite of my ice cream. For another half hour or so we just sat there and talked.
Later That Night Back at the Hotel
Darlene's View
"Stop hogging the popcorn! You're such a pig!" I whined to Chris as he stuffed his face with popcorn. He looked at me and smiled widely, popcorn was stuck in his teeth.
"Ewww, nasty!" I said scrunching up my nose.
"You know you like it," he laughed. I rolled my eyes and reached for the bowl.
"Give it here," I said.
"You have to say the magic word," he teased.
"Please," I said sticking out my bottom lip.
"That's more like it," he said handing over the bowl. I took it and threw a few pieces in my mouth. I then stood up and walked in front of Chris smiling innocently at him.
"What are you doing!? Get out of the way! I can't see the TV!" he exclaimed waving his arms around trying to get me to move. I stepped closer to him and then poured the bowl of popcorn on his head. He sat there with his mouth wide open.
I started to laugh and he looked up at me and said, "How dare you! I can't believe you did that!"
"You can't? I thought you saw it coming," I giggled. He scrambled to his feet and before I could get out of his reach he grabbed my waist and pushed me onto the bed tickling my stomach.
"Stop it!" I shrieked. He just laughed and kept going.
"Stop it! STOP! Please!" I yelled laughing hysterically. I rolled over to try and get out of his grasp but it back fired and both of us went tumbling to the floor. He landed right now top of me. We caught each other's eyes and just looked into them. He had such pretty eyes, I could get lost in them, wait...what am I saying? This is Chris! One of your friends!
"I'm sorry," he mumbled not taking his eyes away from mine.
"That's alright," I said quietly. Neither of us a made a move to move. We just laid there looking into each other's eyes. Finally, Chris looked at my lips and then back up at my eyes and then leaned down slowly. Our lips met and he kissed me tenderly. A moment later he pulled away from me.
'Wow," he breathed.
"Wow is it," I said softly. He smiled at me and said, "You are a pretty good kisser you know that?"
"Thanks," I laughed lightly. He leaned in and kissed me again and for the rest of the night we just enjoyed each other's company.
